Salut!

Je vous écrit ce billet pour vous parler d’un vernis que je possède depuis plusieurs années et j’ai nommé le superbe Fotheringhay Castle, de A England.

Fotheringhay Castle fait partie de la collection Elizabeth & Mary, sortie fin 2014. Cette collection était composée de quatre autres vernis : Virgin Queen, Queen of Scots, Crown of Thistles et Gloriana (plus disponible). Lorsque je l’ai vu sur Instagram, j’ai de suite fondu car je n’avais aucune teinte de ce style. Et alors quand Camille de la Pshiiit Boutique a posté sur Insta qu’elle l’avait reçu, je me suis jetée dessus 🙂

Ce vernis est décrit par la marque comme un vernis à la base olive-mousse et aux reflets or, le tout pour un shimmer à l’effet métallique. Sincèrement, je n’aurais pas fait mieux pour le décrire, c’est exactement ça et à l’heure actuelle, c’est toujours le seul vernis que je possède qui ait cette teinte et aucun autre que j’aie pu voir jusqu’ici ne s’en rapproche.

Le pinceau et l’application

Je l’ai déjà exprimé plusieurs fois sur le blog, je ne suis pas une immense fan du pinceau des vernis A England. Il ne me pose aucun problème pour autant ceci étant dit. Il est rond, plutôt fin, de longueur moyenne et coupé droit au bout.

Côté application, Fotheringhay Castle s’applique avec une facilité et une rapidité déconcertantes, ce qui est hyper appréciable, vous en conviendrez.

La texture et l’opacité

Pour ce qui est de sa texture, Fotheringhay Castle est une crème, comme grand nombre de vernis A England en fait. C’est une texture que j’aime beaucoup car elle est facile à appliquer et qu’elle permet un résultat homogène sans effort.

Sur les photos que vous avez vues ci-dessus, j’ai appliqué seulement deux couches de Fotheringhay Castle. Habituellement, j’applique toujours trois fines couches de vernis mais après deux couches, j’étais complètement satisfaite du résultat donc je me suis arrêtée là 🙂

Le séchage

Fotheringhay Castle sèche rapidement et cela ne m’étonne pas car c’est un point commun à tous mes autres A England. Vous aurez tout de même le temps d’apporter quelques petites rectifications si besoin cela dit. Très agréable 🙂

Le rendu

Je ne trouve rien à vous dire à ce sujet tant je trouve que les photos parlent d’elles-mêmes en fait! On voit parfaitement sa base mousse, on voit également ses reflets or et on ne peut que remarquer son shimmer qui le rend quasi métallique. Encore une fois ici, je n’ai pas appliqué de top coat pour les photos et je pense que vous voyez sans problème à quel point il est brillant et à quel point tous ses reflets sont bien là. Il est sublime!

La tenue

Il n’est encore jamais arrivé que je ne sois pas ravie de la tenue d’un A England et ce n’est pas non plus le cas avec Fotheringhay Castle. En effet, il a tenu 6 jours sur moi avec mon top coat chouchou, le Speed Coat Fast Dry Top Coat de Ciaté. Pour moi, c’est une tenue parfaite car je n’en demande pas plus à un vernis.

Aussi, Fotheringhay Castle n’est pas un vernis qui va s’écailler. C’est un vernis qui va gentiment s’estomper au niveau du bord libre.

Le démaquillage

Je n’ai rencontré aucune difficulté à enlever Fotheringhay Castle. J’ai simplement déposé un peu de mon dissolvant favori, le Dissolvant Doux sans acétone de Peggy Sage, sur un disque de coton et Fotheringhay Castle s’en est allé facilement et sans tacher mes ongles et/ou ma peau. Je n’ai eu aucun résidu de shimmer non plus donc très agréable à ôter 😉

I am writing this blog post to show you a nail polish that I bought a few years ago, I am talking about the stunning Fotheringhay Castle, by A England.

Fotheringhay Castle is part of the Elizabeth & Mary collection which launche end of 2014. That collection was made of four other polishes: Virgin Queen, Queen of Scots, Crown of Thistles and Gloriana (not available anymore). When I saw it on Instagram, I  right away fell in love with it because I did not have any shade like this one. So when Camille from the Pshiiit Boutique posted on Instagram that she had just received it, I bought it in the second that followed the post 🙂

This nail polish is described by the brand as a lustrous olive/mossy green with a golden overlay and a strong prismatic shimmer. Honestly, I would not have done better at describing it as it is exactly what the brand says of it. It is the only polish I own in such a shade and as of today I have never seen any other shade like it.

The brush and the way it applies

I have already mentioned it on the blog, I am not ride or die about the brush of A England polishes. It is of round shape, or medium length, pretty thin and cut straight at the end.

As far as the way it applies, Fotheringhay Castle applies like a dream. It is easy and quick so it is very pleasant, don’t you agree?!

The texture and the opacity

Texture wise, Fotheringhay Castle is a cream, like many A England nail polishes actually. It is a texture that I really enjoy working with because it applies easily and it gives me a smooth finish without any effort.

On the pictures you saw above I only applied two coats of Fotheringhay Castle. I usually apply three thin coats but I was entirely satisfied of the result after two coats so I stopped there 🙂

The drying

Fotheringhay Castle dries quickly and I am not surprised as it is a common thing to all A England polishes I own. That said I still have time to rectify what I did if needed. Very pleasant 🙂

The finish

I do not know what to say as pictures speak for themselves I feel! The moss base is perfectly visible, the gold overlay is just as well and it is impossible not to see its almost metallic shimmer. Once again here, I have not applied any top coat for the pictures yet I believe that you can definitely see its reflects. It is gorgeous!

How did it hold?

So far it never happened that a A England polish disappointed me as far as the way it holds to my nails and it still is not the case with Fotheringhay Castle. Indeed, it held 6 full days on my nails with my favorite top coat -the Speed Coat Fast Dry Top Coat by Ciaté. Its holding power is perfect for me as it is all I ask for from my lacquers.

Also, Fotheringhay Castle is not a nail polish that will chip off. It will gently fade away towards the free end of the nails.

The removal

I have not had a hard time removing Fotheringhay Castle. I simply poured some of my nail polish remover -the acetone-free one by Peggy Sage- on a cotton pad and Fotheringhay Castle disappeared effortlessly and it did not stain my nails or my skin. The shimmer did not leave any residu either so this polish is very pleasant to remove 😉
