Nails for Fun #102 – Tropical leaves & Birds, Picture Polish

Salut!

Je vous l’avais promis il y a une dizaine de jours et le voici : le nail art réalisé entièrement à main levée pour le challenge ppmimicchallenge de Picture Polish! Je voulais vous le poster plus tôt mais ma puce a sorti deux dents et a été bien bien malade suite à cela donc tout mon planning du blog a été perturbé. Bref! Je suis là à nouveau 🙂

La consigne de ce challenge donné par la marque Picture Polish était de naviguer sur le compte Instagram de Patternbank et de répliquer une partie d’un motif qui nous plaît et d’expliquer pourquoi. Nous pouvions utiliser jusqu’à 5 vernis de la marque, qui devaient parfaitement correspondre aux couleurs du motif, et utiliser de l’acrylique pour les accents.

J’ai choisi ce motif de Patternbank pour plusieurs raisons : les couleurs utilisées m’ont attirée de suite, j’ai aussi beaucoup aimé le fait de devoir utiliser du striping tape pour donner une illusion de relief, ce motif m’a fortement rappelé mon voyage à la Martinique qui est une île que j’adore!, enfin j’ai adoré qu’on distingue clairement les feuilles et les oiseaux mais que ce motif soit aussi abstrait et non réaliste. Bref, j’ai flashé dessus pour tout un tas de raisons 🙂

Comment j’ai fait?

J’ai commencé par poser 3 couches de vernis beige et je l’ai top coaté.

Puis, j’ai posé du striping tape large afin de respecter les bandes sans motif de l’image de référence.

Ensuite, avec un pinceau éventail, j’ai réalisé mes feuilles de palmier avec le vernis vert et j’ai retiré le tape. Une fois le vernis vert bien sec, j’ai prolongé les feuilles de palmier sur les bandes vides, comme sur le modèle, puis avec un pinceau fin à nail art, j’ai donné du relief aux feuilles de palmier avec de la peinture acrylique blanche.

J’ai laissé le tout sécher et une fois sec, toujours avec mon pinceau fin, je suis venue peindre le corps de mes oiseaux tropicaux avec le vernis bleu, puis j’ai peint les ailes de ces oiseaux avec du vernis orange et enfin, je suis venue leur donner un peu de relief  et de définition avec du vernis rose vif.

J’ai laissé sécher pendant une bonne demie heure et j’ai top coaté à nouveau.

Hello!

I promised it about 10 days ago and here it is: the freehand nail art I did for the ppmimicchallenge Challenge by Picture Polish! I had planned to post it earlier but my sweeheart grew two teeth and then she got super sick so the organization of my blog got messed up. Long story short, I am back 🙂

This challenge’s rule was to surf on Patternbank’s Instagram account and pick a pattern that we would partially replicate using 5 Picture Polish polishes maximum -they had to perfectly match the colors of the pattern- and explain the reason why we picked this specific pattern. We could use acrylic paint for accenting.

I picked this pattern from Patternbank for several reasons: I got attracted to the colors used for this pattern right away, I always very much enjoyed using striping tape to create an illusion of depth, this pattern reminded me a lot of a trip I did to Martinique which is an island I adore!, finally I loved the fact that I could definitely see palm leaves and tropical birds yet they are abstract and not realistic. Long story short, I fell in love with this pattern for lots of reasons 🙂

Let me show you my inspo pattern first, then my nail art and then I will give you all the details 😉

Step by step

I started by applying 3 coats of beige nail polish and I threw on a coat of top coat.

Then, I applied some wide striping tape in order to replicate the wide stripes without any design that you can see on the pattern.

Next, using a fan brush, I painted my palm leaves with the green polish and I removed the tape. Once the green polish was fully dried down, I lenghtened the palm leaves on the empty stripes, just like on the pattern, and using a thin nail art brush I added some depth to my palm leaves using white acrylic paint.

I let it all dry down and when dry, still using my thin nail art brush, I painted the body of the birds using some blue polish and I painted the wings with orange nail polish. Then, I added some depth and definition to the body of the birds using some bright pink polish.

I let the nail art dry down for a good half an hour and I added some top coat again.
